Somatic yoga classes

on demand, donation based somatic yoga with Claire

Somatic yoga is a type of yoga where you are encouraged to pay attention to how your body feels in the poses, rather than how it looks. Lovingly connecting to your body to tune in to its sensations, listen to what your body needs & use movement and breathing patterns to regulate our nervous system.

Each class (approximately 1 hour) is a combination of:

​

  • A little talk on the theme, sometimes a poem.

  • Breathwork to regulate our nervous systems.

  • Mindfulness meditation to welcome ourselves into the present moment and into our bodies.

  • Mindful movement/yoga to connect to our bodies, gently release tension and improve tone and flexibility. 

  • Relaxation - our final pose is lying down to rest.​

Everything in my classes is an invitation/choice. Please listen to your body & remember there is never any need to push through any pain or discomfort, you can rest or adapt the movements any time.

what do I need for my somatic yoga class?

You'll need a space in which you can lie down, stand and reach up, and sit. The following will also be helpful:

​

  • A yoga mat or soft flooring​

  • A yoga block or one or two big hardback books

  • A yoga strap or any belt or strap

  • A blanket

  • Something to watch the video on (e.g. laptop or phone)

  • Some relaxing music or my playlist for the end
